Slice of life, comedy

The Mystic Archives of Dalian-chan (ダリアンちゃんの書架 Dalian-chan's Bookshelf) or Bibliotheca Mystica de Dalianchan is a yonkoma manga authored by Shigetake. It’s a spin-off of the The Mystic Archives of Dantalian series written by Gakuto Mikumo and illustrated by G-Yuusuke. Dalian-chan's Bookshelf has 1 volume and 12 chapters.

It was serialized by Kadokawa Shoten from July 2011 to July 2012 in the 4-Koma Nano Ace (4コマnanoエース Yonkoma Nano Ēsu), a Japanese yonkoma manga magazine. The volume with all chapters was released by the same company in August 25, 2012. Dalian-chan's Bookshelf was the debut work for Shigetake.[1][2][3]

Dalian is a selfish girl who loves books and fried breads and who's always agitating Hugh's daily life. The cute panels include other familiar characters such as the tsundere Rasiel and the bishōnen Professor.

Dalian-chan's Bookshelf is a slice of life showing Hugh and Dalian in lighthearted and funny situations, without approaching serious plots involving the Dantalian's Bookshelf and the Phantom Books like the original does. Consequently, the main characters are more childish and lively in this spin-off. Dalian still offends and beats Hugh, but she's slightly more honest about her emotions towards him. Flamberge, Hal, Rasiel and the Professor are more prominent. Their personalities are somewhat preserved, although they act more friendly rather than antagonistic towards Hugh and Dalian. The Biblioprincesses and key-keepers regularly interact with each other, even Flamberge/Hal and Rasiel/Professor, who never directly met in the original. The author freely ignores realism and even breaks the fourth wall. For comical reasons, characters can be depicted doing something that they would not do in the light novel. Dalian-chan's Bookshelf is a yonkoma manga in the sense that most of the pages consists of columns of four panels, that should be read from top to bottom and from right to left.
